Living with God

Living with God, a very elusive notion, but if one could feel God's presence then God is no longer a name but an energy force a heartbeat away.  A relationship with God starts when we invite God to reign in our hearts and to guide us to do His will.  It is a romantic journey, and as we get to know God, then we would fall in love with Him.  God knows how to communicate with us, and we would just know whenever He is around.

I talk to God everyday, He is my Lord, my Love, and my Life.  I share with God my heartaches, headaches, joy, sorrow, worry, fear, confusion, etc...,  and I let God take over or decide when things are beyond my control.   I include God in my everyday activities, I talk to God about anything, I sing to Him at times, and the lyrics just come automatically.  It could just be a prayer for someone, or for me to have more strength to deal with struggles and obstacles in my life.  Sometimes the thought comes to my mind as if God was responding to my thought, and it made me laugh.  For example, I was watching The Shroud of Turin on PBS, and when the spoke person was talking about the picture of a man in the shroud, I could not seem to find a picture of anything.  Suddenly, I started to see the figure as if someone was showing me in section, head, chest section, and so on.  Wow, he is in shape, it was a first thought that came to my mind, and it made me smile.  Wow, Jesus was in shape probably because he walked a lot more than I would.  The thought made me smile as if He was teasing me.  God is so cute, and He knows how to dance with my thoughts.  I make sure that God knows that I love Him with all of my heart, and my soul, and I keep telling Him so everyday.

I remember once in one of my dreams, I was made a bride among thirty-some others.  It was just a dream, but it made me feel special.

God has helped me many times when no ones could come to my rescue, but I put my trust in God, and things always seemed to work out just fine.  Sometimes, I wonder of reason that God would keep me learning the extremes, but I trust that God knows of what I could handle,  I pay attention to the energy source, the way how I feel , think, write, etc...  It is as if God is communicating to me at times.  I might not know the answer right away, but as I contemplate, and think, I find answers along the way.  In short, we have to pay attention to details, to be in tune, to communicate to God as if He is someone who is living in us.  It would be a very special, wonderful relationship, and it would make us feel so humble, loved, and special.  I keep St. Theresa's Prayer on my desk to remind me of the followings:

"May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing that you are a child of God.  Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love.
It is there for each and everyone of us."

With time, God is no longer a name, but a loving God who knows how to dance with our thoughts and our hearts.  God communicates with us via many media, and as we are living in God is like going through a journey, we never know how it would unfold but each experience is rich with meanings, love, and wisdom.

Our God is God of Love, but what is love?

Love is a feeling that one feels joy or pain depending on the circumstance and how we interpret the emotion.  Pain helps us to acknowledge love.  Joy helps us to realize how special love feels. We want love, and it is fun to receive love.  In this sense, love is receiving, or passive.

On the other hand, if we start to give or love without expecting anything in return, then love is giving, or active.  We reap rewards as we give, and we expect nothing in return.  And as we give, we might discover God in the process.  Perhaps, we should try to give or love others unconditionally to see how it feels with time.

Jesus once said: "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."   -Matthew 6:19-21

When one loves someone so much, and the thought of not being with the person could be considered as hell on earth.  The concept of hell would forever be obsolete because the thought of not being with God is far more painful than anything that we could have ever experienced. To know God is to love God, and we must learn to love others to discover God.

Time will fly like a flash.  The span of human life is quite short.  We need to focus on things that matter to us in the afterlife that last until eternity.  It would not be fun to fly in the vast universe alone.  Instead, we need to explore the universe with God to visit places that we have never been and just being with God.  Therefore, it is important to invite God to come to our life at least once to just have an interview with God, or just being with Him just for a moment to see how it feels, and go from there.

The God I know

The God I know, the one who once said,

"I am who I am." ("Ego sum qui sum").

He is indeed unique and very interesting.  It takes time to discover God, perhaps, a lifetime, but when one discovers God, one then would fall in love with God for eternity.  So, it is very important to find the true god with whom we would want to discover and to build relationship.  My experience with God is a journey of discoveries over time.  It is a relationship that one could start anytime.  It starts with a desire to discover God.  I think of my journey of discovering and finding God is a romantic novel, a novel that starts when I know nothing about love.

My uncle once asked me "What is love?" when I was twenty years old.  I looked at him smiled but did not answer because I had no clues.  I later did read some Hallmark cards just to see how others defining love, and they were just nice words, or actions done by others for somebody, but love was just words to me.  I remember people would tell me that they love me, and I would respond saying thank you.  When I was about twenty-seven years old, my ex-fiance said that he did not love me in a fit of anger on the phone, then I started to feel so much pain that I was crying so hard in my mother's arms.  It was then I started to realize that how love felt through experiencing pain.

Then I went on to learn about unconditional love through having children, a journey started sometime in 1987 and it taught me so much about life.  The so-called unconditional love only exists if one knows how to love or to give unconditionally.  They are just words like any other words until one knows how to hold onto any relationship even when the tough gets going.  I learn to forgive myself, others, and to start with a clean slate each day.  I like the notion of starting a clean slate each day because it helps me to think clearly, to focus on love as a positive force to keep me going, and to forget the unhappiness that drags me down.  I thank God each day to keep me sane, sound, and loving in His love.  As a result, I learn about the true meaning of love that is to give or love without expecting anything in return.

The God I know is an elusive, interesting God whom never stops loving me.  How do we know if God exists?

According to John14:15-21, Jesus said to his disciples: "If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows him. But you know him, because he remains with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. In a little while the world will no longer sees me, but you will see me, because I live and you will live. On that day, you will realize that I am in my Father and you are in me and I in you. Whoever has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him."

To keep God's commandments is easy because they are all based on love, that is, we have to learn to love ourselves and learn how to love or help others the best we know how.  However, it could be hard at times because of temptation, greed, jealousy, etc...  Therefore, we have to learn to love or give without expecting anything in return, an unconditional love, in order to discover God and to live in God.

"Lifting his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed saying "Holy Father, I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their words, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. And I have given them the glory that you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me. Father, they are your gift to me, I wish that where I am they also may be with me, that they may see my glory that you gave me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, the world does not know you, but I know you, and they know that you sent me. I made known to them your name and I will make it known, that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in them."
- John 17:20-26

I like the "in" notion as mentioned above, it is the ultimate testimony of love.  God is love, and love is the main force that keeps us alive through time.  To live in God, and the God is living in us, it is such a powerful notion of harmony, of becoming One until eternity.  Lord, please keep us in your love and guide us through the journey ahead.
